have you heard of montana del oro state park near san luis obispo?

i don't know how close SLO is to big sur, but the riding there is good. the park also has a campground and a fine beach featuring rocks that rise vertically from the ground.

thats a little further south than I was thinking about... I am thinking about doing a quick overnight trip to meet up with some frinds who might be camping someplace south of santa cruz, possibly big sur....

I am trying to convince them to ride someplace near santa cruz, because I don't really want to drive that far in one day....I know plenty of spots to ride in that area.........Soquel demonstration forest is the shit

I checked out montana del oro state park on google earth.....looks like a nice area...

Where do you usually ride.......what type of riding do you really like?

el corete madera (aka skeggs point), china camp, marin headlands are where me and the gang ride most of the time.

my bike is set up as a light duty trail bike, santa cruz superlight with big tires and a real plush fox freeride fork.

i see in your burning man blog you went through sierraville. we usually turn left in sierraville and head towards the lakes basin highway, where we camp in one of the free campgrounds there and do the downieville shuttle thing.

that ride was done on a bike with a 620cc motor hehhehehe....

my mountain bike is a freeride bike, it is a Kona coiler, it is a freeride bike that actually pedals uphill pretty damn good for a 38lb bike. I cannot ride cross country bikes because I always break them.... I have never been able to use lightweight components

I just set up my old cross counrty bike for street riding..its a aluminum voodoo with a nice heavy duty wheelset laced up on philwood hubs...Built em myself way back in the day. put on some 1.5 tires...it moves nice and smooth now

I have yet to ride downieville....let me know when you plan to do next...I have friends who own propery in the area.
