we are moving to San Jose area, and my GF is just getting comfortable with riding with gears.
Any suggestions of reasonably easy trails to start her on, ones that might be a step up from a paved walkway, but no max heartrate climbs at this point.

Re: Getting started in South bay/Santa cruz
Mon, June 4, 2007 - 4:43 PMI ride on the levies on the bay when I'm not looking for a hill climb. You can get to them from the marina in Alviso, the back side of Twin Creeks Sports Center on Caribbean drive or way out at the east end of Shoreline blvd.

Re: Getting started in South bay/Santa cruz
Tue, June 5, 2007 - 3:39 AMThanks, we need to get our >50 yr old legs back into shape, while I have a "Bow TI" I'm not currently in shape to ride it up much of a hill.
We will be bringing the road tandem as well, so thats a good means to help my GF get into the mode of learning to spin up hills instead of grind. As I recall there are not many low hills, its all steep ones to the East and West and about dead flat North/South ? -
